Whilst Arsenal don’t have an official stance on the injury of Lucas Torreira, the Uruguayan national team are apprehensive about the midfielder’s future.
Reports from the South American media have been showing how worried they are in the the player’s home country, since the World Cup Qualifiers are starting later this month.
Outlet Radio Agricultura claims Uruguay staff are ‘fearing the worst’, especially because Torreira is a regular starter for the team.
In case he gets sidelined, it would be a big blow for a squad who will also miss Luis Suarez due to his knee surgery.
Chilean outlet CDF also writes about it, claiming that manager Oscar Tabarez has been waiting for news from Arsenal on the situation.
They say although there isn’t a response yet, it doesn’t look likely that Torreira will be playing against Chile on March 26th, which is the first fixture of the qualifiers. That’s a crucial game for Uruguay in the competition, especially because it’s being played at home.
