Young Boys defender Lewin Blum has expressed his desire to sign for Manchester City in the future.
The 21-year-old is fascinated with the style of play under Pep Guardiola and is of the belief it would suit him well.
The Switzerland U21 international is currently on international duty, which gave Blick an opportunity to have a chat with him on a few topics. He revealed his Manchester City desire when asked to detail his ‘big dream’.
“I would love to play for Manchester City one day. To a certain extent, it also corresponds to my style of play,” he said.
The right-back came up through the ranks of the Swiss club’s youth system before making his way into their first team in 2021. He’s been a regular for them since the start of last year, making 46 appearances in all competitions.
Blum is aware he must further improve his game and this would also be needed for him to have any chance of getting a move to Manchester City.
“Everything has gone very well since then [January 2022]. I got a lot of playing time and was able to take a lot with me. On the one hand, I have to improve my defensive behaviour. On the other hand, I have to develop my personality further and increasingly slip into the leadership role,” Blum explained.
Signing for Manchester City is a long way away for Blum, and whilst the odds may be currently stacked against him, there’s nothing wrong with dreaming.
