AC Milan’s confidence about signing Emerson Royal from Tottenham this summer has returned, with them believing his desire for the move is key to it happening.

Corriere dello Sport cover the situation today and insist there is a ‘lot of confidence’ that the Tottenham man will end up in Milan at some point.

The newspaper explains how Emerson’s public declarations of his desire to move to Milan are almost playing into the Serie A side’s hands, with the Tottenham man again making it clear what he wants in statements this week.

They have been noted by Milan, who in turn believe they can use that to their advantage and push an agreement over the line.

The club want the player as much as he wants them and ‘immediately reached’ an agreement with him on a five-year deal worth just over €2m per year when they first contacted him and his representatives.

That part of the negotiation was quick and easy but talks with Tottenham have not progressed at the same pace as the Premier League side want €20m for the defender. Milan are refusing to go beyond €15m.

The feeling, though, is that the player’s will, and his public declarations, will work in their favour and Tottenham will move from their standpoint sooner rather than later.

Indeed, there is almost a cockiness from Milan that they’ll get the deal they want, thanks to Emerson and his transparent efforts to make the transfer happen.
