Following the rollercoaster of stories about Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang today, here’s another sign of a positive outcome regarding his move to Barcelona.
Club president Joan Laporta has now claimed that, as far as he’s aware, the Camp Nou side are managing to get the transfer over the line before the deadline.
“Mateu Alemany just told me, ‘Looks like we’re going to do it’,” he said (via Mundo Deportivo).
Catalan outlet Sport had already reported that the transfer is being worked on, with Alemany and Jordi Cruyff both holding a meeting with an intermediary at the club offices this evening.
For the transfer to be complete, Aubameyang needs to go through the medical tests.
Earlier reports from Spain stated that a set of tests had been booked in for around 4pm, and whilst that appointment was obviously missed, it was stated the medical team were told to stay around just in case they were needed.
Víctor Navarro reports, via Sport, that the time has now come for that medical to actually happen, so it would seem clear that there’s genuine progress being made on this very late transfer.
