Between 2020 and 2021, it was usual to see West Ham United being linked as one of the main contenders for the signing of Jovane Cabral from Sporting, with reports even saying the Hammers had made an offer for his signing.
The winger ended up staying at the Lions, and it turned out that in January this year, he was loaned to Lazio, with the Italian club getting a buying option to keep him this summer.
This clause is unlikely to be triggered, though, and that’s why Portuguese newspaper A Bola today features a piece saying Jovane still ‘has a market’ in Europe.
So there West Ham get a mention again, as, when speaking of the countries the winger could move to, the outlet names England, and points out the Hammers’ bid was turned down in the past.
There are also clubs from Germany, Spain and especially France who are claimed to be interested, with a ‘very serious possibility’ of them making an offer soon.
What’s interesting for West Ham is that Jovane used to be valued by Sporting for at least €15m, and according to this story, the Lions would now demand something close to €7m, which is his price on Transfermarkt.
The report claims the player is just not staying in Lisbon, which could work out for the Hammers if they are still keen on him.
