On July 30th, La Repubblica explained Napoli are expecting West Ham United to make an improved offer for Piotr Zieliński, after the Premier League side’s first offer was considered insufficient.
Corriere dello Sport on Sunday explain the midfielder ‘continues to reject’ the Hammers as a solution because he is ‘dissatisfied’ with their offer.
That’s about the only bit of information the report shares about West Ham in today’s edition of the newspaper. It doesn’t mean the Serie A side are not working to get rid of the 28-year-old this summer.
According to Il Mattino, David Moyes’ side have made an offer of almost close to €40m for the Poland international, who has asked for a four-year deal worth £5.5m, likely net, per season.
The Napes club believe West Ham’s offer ‘cannot be returned to sender’, meaning they cannot reject their proposal.
In order to convince Zieliński, there has been ‘long telephone meeting’, likely from Napoli, with the Pole’s agents, to ‘push him to say yes to West Ham’. The outcome of this summit has not been mentioned by Il Mattino.
If the player is sold to West Ham this summer, the money Luciano Spalletti’s side will earn can then be reinvested to shape up the squad for the new season.
