Having bought Blaise Matuidi from Paris Saint-Germain for €20m (which could rise to €30m), many thought, including us, this would be the end of the Emre Can rumours.

After all, Liverpool’s reluctance to sell their midfielder despite his contract coming to an end next summer was a stumbling block for the Serie A champions, but they’re now prepared to wait.

Despite buying a midfielder, Juventus are still keen to bolster that area of their team even further, and if they can get Can on a free, then that would be a bonus.

There’s every possibility the 23-year-old is simply waiting to see how Liverpool fare up until, let’s say, December, and if things look promising, he might commit to an extension.
