With Arsenal reportedly on the verge of signing Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna, with multiple claims in the Italian media over the past 24 hours, it would be no surprise if they sell a defender to part finance the deal.
As far as the Italian media are concerned, that man is Jakub Kiwior. The Poland international has been linked with several Serie A clubs and the latest to be placed in the race for his signature is Inter Milan.
That would quite possibly be a very attractive move for the player, especially if he was assured he’d have more prominence than he has at Arsenal.
The Serie A side wanted to know the possibility of taking the defender on loan, with a right to make the move permanent. That purchase clause could turn into an obligation ‘under certain conditions’.
Arsenal aren’t keen on that formula, which is no surprise. Unless it’s an outright obligation then there’s always the distinct possibility of Inter Milan playing further transfer games next summer even if Kiwior does well.
