Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca is looking likely to return to Real Betis on loan this summer, with the Spanish side keen to spend their limited funds elsewhere rather than on him.

That’s according to Diario de Sevilla, who report that Betis intend to bring the midfielder back but only on loan with a purchase option tied into it.

Roca has spent this season with Manuel Pellegrini’s team after deciding to leave Leeds last summer and has proven to be a key player for them, establishing himself in Betis’ midfield and earning positive reviews for his performances.

Betis are keen to keep hold of him, and he is keen to stay where he is, with several reports and even comments from the midfielder making both of those facts clear.

The question has always been in what manner he would return, with a recent report indicating he was still able to leave on loan thanks to a clause in his contract that allows him to do so if Leeds are playing in the Championship.

It was this clause which took him to Betis, and thanks to the defeat to Southampton in the play-off final it could help him get back there this summer.

It has been suggested a loan deal is already wrapped up, but Betis were exploring the possibility of a permanent move instead if it could be done at a price, they found agreeable.

They’re deciding against that, though, with Diario reporting that the midfielder will return on loan with a purchase option included in the deal for next summer. The value of the clause isn’t made clear.

That, though, is bad news for Leeds who not only could do with the money this summer but are likely to be forced into accepting a lower priced one for that clause next year too as he’ll be in the final year of his deal at Elland Road at that point too.
