Brighton & Hove Albion’s Julio Enciso has been linked with a move to Italian side Atalanta in the past few days.

It’s been thoight a major offer is needed to convince the Seagulls and the move was therefore described as complex.

More has emerged from Italy today. TuttoSport, as relayed by Tuttomercatoweb, have reported that Atalanta have actually asked for Enciso on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.

The total package on offer is around the €11m fee that Brighton had initially spent to sign the Paraguayan from Libertad Asuncion in 2022.

That amount is not good enough for a sale to be considered but the report states that it was only an initial approach from the Italian side. They are ‘destined to continue’ their chase of the 20-year-old in the next few days and are not giving up.

The Paraguay international has played less than 600 minutes in all competitions for Fabian Hurzeler’s side this season and he doesn’t seem to be a big part of Brighton’s plans. That is perhaps a key reason for the recent exit talk.

However, a loan with an €11m option simply isn’t in the realms of reality.
