It appears that Fenerbahçe are joining Trabzonspor in the quest to sign some Southampton players, after the latter of the two made a move for Mislav Orsic.
However, the Istanbul club have their sights on another forward at Saints, and that’s Moussa Djenepo, who arrived back in 2019 for €15.7m, according to Fanatik.
The 24-year-old didn’t really feature much for Southampton last season, and mostly watched on from the bench or the stands during the second half of the season.
He contributed with two assists in 16 Premier League appearances, but was unable to help the club avoid relegation, and a new opportunity could present itself to him.
The Turkish outlet explain that a loan deal the Mali international from St Mary’s is ‘on the cards’, while Yenicag add a little bit more.
In their coverage of the situation, they state that the deal would be to bring in the player temporarily from Southampton for next season ‘with an option to buy’.
That would make the most sense, as it would allow the relegated side to potentially make some money from the deal down the line, unless they want to simply let him play for a season in hope he can increase his value and catch the eye in Turkey.
Either way, a move appears to be in the works.
