The past few weeks have been somewhat tense between Mohamed Salah and the Egyptian FA, with the Liverpool star taking to Facebook to complain about the way his country have gone about treating their footballers when heading on international duty.

Explaining the national team usually flew economy and had to mix with the everyday crowd at Cairo airport, the winger wanted his teammates and himself to be given a bit more privacy, security and comfort on their travels, which appears to have been granted.

According to local reports, relayed by Ahram in Egypt, the Liverpool forward, alongside West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi, were received ‘at the airport’s VIP lounge on Sunday, and were escorted out by four security guards’.

This came after Salah’s agent wanted his client to be escorted at all times by ‘two security guards while he is on international duty’, and that ‘no one should be allowed to ask the 26-year-old for photographs’.

Former Tottenham striker Mido recently commented on the issue, and was pleased the Liverpool star spoke out, saying: “The Egyptian FA has increased the level of its services to the players because of the courage of a player who will go down as one of the most important people in the history of Egyptian football.

“A big greeting to the Egyptian FA officials… the biggest challenge for them is to solve the problem of image rights.”

The latter dispute came after his country’s official used his image to promote their official sponsor WE when Salah himself is contracted to rival Vodafone.
