It was inevitable.

With Liverpool and Napoli facing each other in the Champions League, there was going to be something written about Piotr Zielinski.

The Polish midfielder, prior to his move to Naples, came very close to moving to Anfield, but a last minute change of mind from Udinese meant he continued his adventure with Maurizio Sarri rather than learn from Jürgen Klopp.

Since then, rumours have popped up here and there about Liverpool potentially making a move for the 24-year-old, but never anything concrete.

That proves that either Klopp has moved on, or they know that Napoli will make their life hell, such is his importance to the Italian side these days.

When we say ‘moved on’, we don’t mean the German manager doesn’t like Zielinski anymore, far from it.

As Gazzetta dello Sport explain on Tuesday, the charismatic Liverpool head coach ‘continues to rate’ the Poland international, and he will give him ‘particular attention’ on Wednesday night, knowing how dangerous he can be.

Zielinski has started all but one of this season’s games under Carlo Ancelotti, and scored two goals in that period.
