Fanatik report Liverpool scouts were left empty-handed last night as their scouting mission for Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir didn’t go quite to plan due to Trabzonspor boss Unal Karaman deciding to use Erce Kardesler.

This week Liverpool have again been linked with the 23 year old, along with Manchester United and Sevilla.

It was also reported the Merseyside club were sending a scout to Turkey to get a further lowdown on Cakir, but Karaman completely changed his starting line-up as he looked to give some youngsters a chance.

TRT Spor’s Trabzonspor journalist Baris Yurduseven has also spoken to Radyo Gol, as covered by Fanatik, and backed up Liverpool’s interest in the player: “I’m the first person who said Liverpool are interested in Ugurcan Cakir and now I know that RB Leipzig are also seriously interested in him.”

Despite the interest from other clubs it’s unlikely Trabzonspor will part ways with their first-choice goalkeeper in the January transfer window, especially after he recently signed an extended contract.

The Trabzon club are in the mix for the Super Lig title and they’ll want to keep their key players at the club beyond the next transfer. Why Liverpool would be interested isn’t explained.
