This week, one of the stories in the rumour mill claimed that Liverpool are interested in the signing of Ecuadorian fullback Byron Castillo.
The credits to this information were given to the South American and the English press, with one mentioning the other, making it a bit difficult to be taken seriously.
Now as we get to see someone actually going after the story, it turns out that it could be actually Leicester City who are chasing the 23-year-old.
The report comes from Pipe Sierra, a Colombian journalist who made good coverage of James Rodriguez’s departure from Everton this summer.
He now says that the claims of Liverpool’s interest in Castillo are ‘fake’, as there haven’t been even contacts with his club Barcelona.
Sierra then adds that Leicester City actually ‘asked’ about the player.
However, he says there’s ‘nothing more’, making it sound like the Foxes haven’t chosen to advance any further for the signing yet.
Byron Castillo’s good performances for Barcelona recently made him the first choice for his position in the Ecuadorian national team as well.
Those caps, added to his frequent performances in Copa Libertadores, mean he’d have no problems getting a work visa for the Premier League if Leicester really are serious, or if Liverpool do actually become interested.
