According to reports in the Swedish media, Östers IF are showing interest in Liverpool midfielder James Balagizi.
The 21-year-old’s contract with the Premier League champions expires at the end of the month and he’s set to leave after ten years with the club.
Fotbollskanalen report Balagizi and they say the youngster has travelled to Växjö to have a trial with Östers IF.
The attacking midfielder is reportedly training with the club’s first team as their coaching staff build an assessment of the player. Östers IF recently sold Youssoupha Sanyang to Slavia Prague and Balagizi could be seen as a like for like replacement.
Balagizi started his youth career at Liverpool and after a brief spell in the Manchester City academy he returned to the Merseyside club.
However, he’s failed to break into the first team despite the potential he showed at youth level, only featuring featured twice for the senior team.
In recent years the midfielder has been sent out on loan to get first team experience and last year he spent a brief time at Kilmarnock.
Balagizi signed a two-year extension with Liverpool in 2023, and his time at the club is coming to an end.
