Jürgen Klopp will leave Liverpool at the end of this season and the Premier League side are working behind the scenes to appoint his successor.
Earlier claims stated the Reds are keen on Xabi Alonso, but he decided to continue at Bayer Leverkusen. This has seen Liverpool shift their focus to Sporting manager Rúben Amorim.
The Merseyside club seem to be stepping up their efforts to try and secure a deal for the 39-year-old, if a report from Correio da Manhã is to be believed.
Amorim is represented by Raúl Costa and it’s explained that Liverpool ‘will meet him on Tuesday’.
The outlet adds the agent will try and outline the details of the terms of the agreement of his client’s contract, and then convince the Lions to part ways with the manager after this season. The slant is that Costa will try to take the manager to Anfield.
The coach’s deal lasts until 2026 and has a termination clause of €30m, which will drop down to €20m for clubs outside Portugal.
Amorim has guided the Lions currently to the top of the league table, and they’re four points ahead of second placed Benfica with a game in hand.
