Argentine striker Lucas Alario was reportedly a transfer target for Liverpool during the summer.

In the end, the 23-year-old stayed at River Plate, and has even penned a new contract recently. Alario’s new contract has a release clause of €18m, which drops towards the end of the contracted period.

According to a latest report on Italian website Tutto Mercato Web, Inter and Tottenham are interested in signing Alario, but Liverpool have repeatedly watched him closely.

Tutto Mercato Web say Alario could be an option for manager Jurgen Klopp in the future, but that remains to be seen.

Liverpool have plenty of quality options in the attack, and they’ve been quite productive under Klopp, so it’s a bit difficult to see where Alario would fit in at the club.

However, things could change in the future, and Alario could very well find himself on the radar of Klopp and Liverpool.
