According to a claim in the Italian media, Liverpool may make a last minute attempt to sign AS Roma defender Emerson.

Liverpool have today agreed a fee for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and the Merseyside club are expected to do more business before the end of the window.

TMW report Emerson has emerged as a target for Liverpool, and they believe there something in the interest.

Despite Alberto Moreno getting something of a reprieve, there’s doubt over whether he’s the long term left back option, and that would be whether Emerson comes in.

TMW report Liverpool are expected to ‘warm up’ their interest in Emerson in the next 24 hours, with the possibility of the 23 year old Brazilian arriving at Anfield before the deadline.

Emerson played 25 league games for Roma last season, helping them to second place in Serie A. Liverpool wouldn’t have an issue with a work permit as the player holds an Italian passport.

The left back is contracted to Roma until June 2021.
