Napoli star Fabián Ruiz is on Liverpool’s transfer agenda for next summer, according to Fichajes.net.
The Reds saw Georginio Wijnaldum leave for PSG as a free agent at the end of last season and the Dutchman’s exit has been a ‘hard blow’ for the Merseyside club.
Jürgen Klopp’s side failed to bring in a replacement for Wijnaldum and the manager wants the club to strengthen the position, in order to compete with Chelsea and Manchester City for the title.
The Spaniard is the ‘new objective’ for Liverpool and they ‘want to sign’ the Serie A man, who is enjoying life at Napoli. Due to his ability to play in several positions in midfield, the 25-year-old fits the profile of the player the English club are looking for.
For now, Liverpool are ‘closely following’ Fabián’s progress, to see whether he is ready to play for a big club that’s wanting to challenge on all fronts.
Real Madrid and Barcelona showed interested in the former Real Betis man, but have now forgotten about him because of the demands made by the Naples club. Fichajes.net state Luciano Spalletti’s side don’t want to part ways with one of their ‘main figures’.
Fabián’s contract expires in 2023 and, without a renewal, Napoli could be forced to cash in from his sale next summer.
