Liverpool have identified West Ham United’s Issa Diop as a transfer target, according to Foot Mercato.
The Reds are without Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez as the duo are out due to long-term injuries.
Joel Matip has also struggled with injuries this season, forcing Jürgen Klopp to use Fabinho and Jordan Henderson in the heart of his side’s defence.
The website claims the English champions are ‘trying to lure’ the Hammers defender to move to Anfield.
Diop has been restricted to only four league matches this season and has had only three outings in all competitions since the end of September.
However, his situation has not stopped him from being a target for the English champions. That’s because they have been following him for several years now.
It’s claimed a ‘last minute transfer’ doesn’t seem impossible because David Moyes’ side ‘would not necessarily be against’ the player’s departure. If that happens, it’ll be a ‘great opportunity’ for the Frenchman.
Foot Mercato further states unknown clubs from Spain and Italy have also arrived on the scene for Diop.
With the window shutting on Monday, one could expect more developments if Liverpool or other sides decide to make a concrete effort to sign the West Ham player.
