Italian newspaper Tuttosport have spent months having daily updates on Juventus’ chase for Liverpool midfielder Emre Can, so we’ll all be glad when it’s over.

The outlet’s front page shows that the chase is over, and Can is expected to be signing for the Serie A champions in the next week.

Tuttosport says that the announcement should be made right after the Champions League final on Saturday, with the player scheduled to have his medicals in Italy in the next week.

Can will be signing a five-year contract, which will put him among the best-paid athletes in the squad, with a salary of between €6m and €7m per year, depending on bonuses.

The competition was obviously a huge concern for Juventus. But according to the newspaper, Can only hesitated when an intermediary appeared with an offer from Real Madrid. Other clubs as Manchester City and Bayern Munich were left out because of Juve’s better project, and the same goes for a Liverpool renewal.

As we’ve stated before, it’s very hard to believe there was interest from all of those clubs, given their local media didn’t touch upon it.

Another factor that attracted Can to Juventus was his friend Khedira, who only spoke good things about the club. Ironically, the transfer may result in the departure of the 31-year-old, who would have offers from the Premier League to leave Italy.
