With Liverpool making an approach to take Ruben Amorim out of Sporting this summer, Lions fans can only hope that, for some reason, the manager turns down such an opportunity.
Newspaper Correio da Manhã today comes forward to say that despite the ‘affection expressions’ from Portuguese supporters, that won’t keep him at the Lisbon side.
It’s pointed out that Sporting fans have been taking banners to games asking Amorim to stay beyond the end of the season. He recently claimed that even his son asked him to do that.
The coach, however, is expected to take a ‘more rational decision’, ‘leaving emotion aside’ when the time comes.
Correio da Manhã point out it’s not only Liverpool who want to sign Amorim, as Barcelona are also interested.
For now, the manager is fully focused on winning the league title, with other newspapers today featuring many stories showing the maths which explain what Sporting need to do to get the trophy.
While Liverpool try to sort things out in the final weeks under Jürgen Klopp, it seems they’re still to engage in real talks with the Lions’ boss.
