Donyell Malen’s recent decision to change agents is fuelling reports that a move to Liverpool could be on the cards.
That’s according to BILD, who say the Reds still have the forward ‘on their radar’ and Jurgen Klopp is ‘keeping an eye on him’.
The newspaper explains that a recent series of events around Malen have caused some concern at Borussia Dortmund about the Dutchman’s future.
The brand-new development is that Malen has changed his agents, swapping from Mino Raiola’s former agency, now headed up by Rafaela Pimenta, to the ‘Dutch XXL agency SEG’.
They’ve already been publically celebrating the capture and one interesting tidbit is that they currently have Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo on their books. They facilitated the deal that took him to Anfield, so the connections are already there with those in charge of the Reds.
And BILD insist that Liverpool have a long-standing interest in the player too, having nearly signed him in the summer of 2021 before his move to Dortmund.
That interest has not gone away, and the newspaper insists Liverpool have Malen ‘on their radar’, while Klopp ‘is still keeping an eye on him’.
Now whether the change of agent now means things are being ramped up ahead of a transfer is debatable, but players very rarely switch agents unless they’re planning a big change.
At this point it would be strange for Liverpool to be chasing Malen given they have needs elsewhere in the squad and their forward line is very well stocked, but perhaps if one of those players were to leave in the coming months, Malen would become a serious target again.
