Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch does not agree with the role he’s been given under Thomas Tuchel and is ‘not averse’ to leaving before the end of the transfer window.

That’s according to Abend Zeitung, who cover the player today and explain Liverpool are the ‘hottest trail’ for him to follow should he depart.

The newspaper looks at the issues around Bayern’s midfield this summer, with Tuchel continuing to call for a number six to sign but the club’s hierarchy unconvinced that it is necessary.

They would only be tempted into making a move if one of the current group were to leave and Gravenberch is currently the most likely in that regard.

At the moment there is a ‘big question mark’ regarding his future at Bayern as Tuchel has made it clear he is only a backup at this moment in time.

“When he was substituted on in the preparatory games, he was very good. His strengths are with his back to the goal and in dribbling, he only came off the bench in the friendlies and that’s his role at the moment,” he said when asked about the player today.

Gravenberch ‘sees things differently’, though, and as a result ‘should not be averse’ to a move somewhere else if it were offered to him.

That’s where Liverpool come into the picture and the ‘hottest trail’ currently leads to Anfield as they continue their midfield rebuild.

One big factor that could work in their favour is the departure of Hasan Salihamidzic, who left Bayern earlier this year and was a ‘great advocate’ for Gravenberch. The idea is that those now in charge of transfers would be less against him departing than he was.

Whether that means he ends up at Liverpool before the end of the window remains to be seen but all the pieces are certainly there for a deal to be done.
