Ronald joined Swansea City in the January transfer window and quickly settled in at the Welsh club, picking up 18 appearances in the second half of the season after his move from Estrela.
The Portuguese side was his first club in Europe, after the 23-year-old had prioritised moving to the old continent early in his career.
His experience in his first few months with Swansea is treasured by the player, who during an interview with PL Brasil, made it clear he’s thrilled with the warmth he gets from fans.
Looking toward the future, though, this youngster is dreaming big and that could involve a move to Liverpool. Asked if he has big plans for the future, the right sided midfielder made it clear he sees Arne Slot’s club as one of the world’s biggest and would therefore like a move to Anfield.
PL Brasil quote him as saying: “Look, every player certainly dreams of playing for the biggest clubs in the world: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Milan, etc. It would be a lie if I said I wouldn’t like that to happen one day. The same goes for the big Brazilian clubs. But today my focus is all on Swansea, which for me is already the biggest club I’ve played for in my career so far.”
Before chasing those bigger dreams, Ronald is determined to help Swansea City as much as he can. Having been welcomed superbly by the club’s fans, he said he wants to give them ‘more and more’.
Obviously, there’s one specific goal in mind.
“Of course. All my focus is on Swansea and next season I hope to be able to contribute a lot so that we can gain access to the top flight of English football. The whole group has this goal in mind.
“Our group is full of very high-quality athletes. Joe Allen, besides being a great player, is Welsh and therefore has a strong connection with the country. He is definitely a leader within our squad. But we have a mix of young and experienced players and this is great contribution from everyone.”
Maybe it’s Joe Allen who is encouraging those Liverpool dreams!
