Aurélien Tchouaméni’s transfer situation is turning into something of a mini-saga.
The AS Monaco midfielder has been strongly linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid in recent weeks, with PSG also being brought into the picture.
When Los Blancos assumed they’d be signing Kylian Mbappe this summer, it was explained repeatedly in Spain that they’d ask Tchouaméni to stay where he is for a further year.
However, the 22-year-old wasn’t keen on that, a situation which gave Liverpool the advantage.
Everything changed when Mbappe decided to stay at PSG, and now Real Madrid are moving more seriously for the Monaco player.
Earlier this week, RMC declared that Tchouaméni had chosen Real Madrid and that things were progressing strongly. Others disagreed with that, and now RMC themselves make it clear the transfer race isn’t over.
PSG are said to be able to make a better financial offer, and RMC state ‘Liverpool are still in talks’.
That’s why the situation is ‘dragging on’, although it is also insisted Tchouaméni has a personal terms agreement with Real Madrid.
RMC state Monaco want €80m, potentially plus bonuses, and in Spain it’s thought that’s too high for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. It also sounds like more than Liverpool would be prepared to pay, so the coming days could be interesting.
