Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson is glad to be back in the team following his appearance against Sheffield United at the weekend.

The 28-year-old was sidelined for three weeks following a shoulder injury, and after missing several games with the Reds and the national team, he featured in the 2-1 win over the Blades.

Alisson is now confirmed for the Champions League clash against Midtjylland on Tuesday night, and was interviewed by Brazilian outlet Esporte Interativo about his comeback.

“It’s very good. It was only three weeks, to me it felt like three months. Being back, being able to help the team… For a player, being left out is the worst part of football”, Alisson told Esporte Interativo.

“But it is part of the package, we are subject to injuries, nobody wants it, but we’re subject. But I tried to recover in the best way and in the quickest possible way to be back and help my teammates and getting back to the Champions League already. I love the Champions League, I love playing the Champions League.”

Alisson was also asked about the importance of his return given that Liverpool have now lost Virgil van Dijk, who could be out for the season due to a knee injury.

“It’s important for the team, for all of us, for me too. Unfortunately, we ended up losing Virgil probably for the rest of the competition. We don’t know the set dates yet, anything can happen, but that’s likely, that’s what we have in hand. To be back, to be one more part within the squad, within the team to be able to help. I’m feeling very happy. I believe it also gives confidence to the team. Everyone we can have available now, from now on, it’s important to fight for our goals, which are big.”

Liverpool are in the hunt for the top of Group B, as following the win over Ajax last week, they are now tied with Atalanta with three points each.

Something similar happens in the Premir League, as the Reds are sharing the top of the table with Everton, with 13 points each. Jurgen Klopp’s side now face West Ham United on Saturday.
