Liverpool star Darwin Nunez has been ruled out of Uruguay’s squad for the upcoming FIFA dates.

That was today announced by the national team, who, in a statement, revealed that the player is being replaced by America forward Jonathan Rodriguez.

Their official channel only claimed the Liverpool player has an ‘injury’, and didn’t give any more details on that.

However, El Observador comes up to say that Nunez has an ankle problem, and that was communicated by the Reds’ medical staff to the national team.

The striker is then set to miss Uruguay’s trip to Asia, where they’re facing Japan and North Korea in a couple of friendlies.

Nunez had normally played against Real Madrid on Wednesday, starting the game and being replaced by Roberto Firmino in the 57th minute.

Now it’s unclear whether the 23-year-old will be ready for Liverpool’s return at the end of the international break. As the Reds do not play this week, Jurgen Klopp’s mind is already on Manchester City, as his side visit the Etihad Stadium on the 1st of April.
