Alexis Mac Allister has formed a strong midfield pairing alongside Ryan Gravenberch at Liverpool this season.
The Argentine, who won the World Cup in 2022, has played every game in the Premier League for the Reds and has also played every minute of their Champions League campaign.
Because of how much the midfielder has played, there have been question marks about the Liverpool star’s fitness and he didn’t feature for Argentina against Venezuela.
Clarin have now reported that Mac Allister came off against Crystal Palace due to muscle discomfort and it was a case of adductor muscle overload that kept him out of the game against Venezuela.
As far as the Argentine newspaper has it, Mac Allister is now ‘better’ and has returned to training. He is likely to feature against Bolivia, which is a positive for his national team. His absence has been felt by Argentina and his return is quite a boost.
Liverpool fans will look at the situation with some nervousness, because Mac Allister and Gravenberch are key to the system. Any injury to them would downgrade the side and impact Arne Slot’s plans.
