Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez is ‘clear’ one of the possibilities to strengthen Los Blancos’ back four is Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold.
That’s according to ElNacional, who state the 22-year-old has become the ‘new goal’ for the La Liga side, ‘at the request’ of Carlo Ancelotti.
Ancelotti has Daniel Carvajal as the only recognised right-back at his disposal. He has struggled with form and fitness, and has no competition, even though Lucas Vázquez, originally a more attacking player, can operate in the same position.
The current options at the Bernabéu don’t meet the expectations. Therefore, it is in Real Madrid’s interest to strengthen the right side of defence.
It’s claimed the former Everton manager ‘would have asked’ for the England international. Back in July, Jürgen Klopp’s ‘untouchable’ star signed a new contract at the Merseyside club and his current deal expires in 2025.
Real Madrid will not have it easy to sign the Liverpool defender because Klopp doesn’t want to let go of the player.
ElNacional, however, state ‘nothing can be ruled out’. They also point out Paris Saint-Germain summer signing Achraf Hakimi is of interest to Real Madrid.
What’s clear is the Spanish side will have to invest big if they want to take Alexander-Arnold away from Anfield next summer.
