Liverpool fan favourite Xabi Alonso has been speaking to Spanish radio channel Onda Cero, and naturally touched upon his time at the Merseyside club.
The Bayern Munich star is entering the closing stages of his career, but it was at Liverpool that he made a name for himself on the European stage, before moving to Real Madrid.
Alonso is still highly regarded among Liverpool fans, and the Spaniard always has some good words to say about his former club.
Asked what Liverpool means to him, Alonso replied: “Liverpool is a very special place for me because it was an important stage of my career when I left my family for the first time, and I have fond Memories of Liverpool because my son was born there.”
The 35-year-old made history at Liverpool when he won the Champions League in his debut season at the club.
Alonso made over 200 appearances for Liverpool during his five seasons at the club, before going ton to shine for both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
