Liverpool made an effort to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli in the January transfer window, before his big move to Paris Saint Germain.
That’s according to Gianluca di Marzio, who provides information on Liverpool’s apparent bid ahead of the clash with PSG in the Champions League this evening.
He reports that the game will be Kvaratskhelia’s as he could have experienced the tie with roles reversed. In other words, he could have been playing for Liverpool not PSG.
Liverpool made a ‘major attempt’ to get him from Napoli and presented a ‘monster offer’ before the French giants came calling.
This bid came last summer, with them offering €100m to sign the Georgian from Napoli and boost Arne Slot’s squad. They, though, intended to spend this money then leave Kvaratskhelia on loan in Naples for a year.
Napoli were not convinced by this ‘rich offer’ and rejected it outright, leaving the forward at the club for six months before PSG signed him January.
Now he’s set to face the club he could have signed for, presumably hoping to show Slot and his team what they missed out on.
