Liverpool star reveals very clear message Jurgen Klopp has given him for international break

Jurgen Klopp has made it clear he’s not a fan of the UEFA Nations League.

On a mission to win something with Liverpool this season, the last thing the German manager wants is any of his key players going away on international duty and coming back in anything other than perfect shape.

The Spanish media call it the FIFA Virus, as clubs send their highly paid, and paid for, stars around the world and sit waiting for luck to fall on their side and everything to turn out ok.

One player Klopp would really not want to lose is Virgil van Dijk. The former Southampton defender has made a big difference to Liverpool’s defence since his protracted move from the Saints.

The Netherlands are facing Germany, and Van Dijk is a key player for his country too. De Telegraaf have asked the defender if Klopp has given him any tips about facing the German national team, and the Dutchman was very clear.

There’s been no match tips, but just one very clear general one: “I have to make sure that I stay fit, that is actually the only thing.”
