French striker Grégoire Defrel has started the season in impressive form at Serie A side Sassuolo.
The 25-year-old already has 7 goals to his name in all competitions, and it seems his performances has caught the eye of several top European clubs.
According to Italian website Gazzamercato, Liverpool are keeping close tabs on Defrel, and could consider signing him in the future. Gazzamercato say Defrel could leave for a foreign club in the foreseeable future for a big transfer fee.
However, Defrel hasn’t exactly been a prolific goal scorer in the past, and has to consistently find the back of the net to secure his next big move.
Liverpool already have plenty of options up front, and it may be considered unlikely the Merseyside club would be keen on signing the player in the near future. Defrel signed for Sassuolo last summer in a €7m deal from Cesena, and has another four years left on his contract.
Defrel was linked to Liverpool last week in Italy, with the forward described as a ‘high quality player’ Jurken Klopp was keen on for January, Crystal Palace and Swansea City were linked earlier this year, and Liverpool’s rivals Everton were linked last season.
