In August it was reported Liverpool had signed up Jonathan Woodgate to be a scout for the club. The former Real Madrid player was set to work in Europe for Jurgen Klopp’s spying team, but was coy when questioned on the agreement, and didn’t want to talk about it and confirm his position.
Marca see it as a continuation of Liverpool’s Spanish section, started under Rafa Benitez. They believe the club have long held Spanish talent in high regard, and have a strong concentration on trying to find possible signings there.
Woodgate’s time with Real Madrid was wrecked by repeated muscle injuries, but he’s still regarded quite fondly in Spain.
His experience playing and living in the country can only help Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp.
