Mundo Deportivo report on Wednesday that Darijo Srna may well turn down the chance to sign for Barcelona. Usually the Catalan newspaper don’t believe any player would want to turn their beloved Barca down, but it’s pointed out Srna has rejected offers from Liverpool and Real Madrid too.
The Liverpool offer wasn’t in relation to the January window, and it’s not made clear when the approach was made. The point that Mundo Deportivo are making is that Srna has turned down huge clubs such as Liverpool and Madrid, and so may do likewise with Barcelona.
That a 34 year old right back is getting so much attention is perhaps strange, but it often happens with Srna.
The Croatian is linked to big clubs like Liverpool all the time, and has been for some years, but in the past has remained loyal to Shakhtar Donetsk, a club he’s been with since 2003.
Liverpool aren’t the only English club to have been linked over the past few years, but with Srna turning 35 years of age in May, Klopp being interested would be a surprise at this stage.
Barcelona are looking for a cheap addition and would expect Srna to take a pay cut to join them.
