Asking any club if they would be interested in signing Kylian Mbappé if the opportunity arose is a bit like wondering whether a child wants ice-cream: the answer would be yes.
The Paris Saint-Germain striker is one of the most coveted players in the world, and most big clubs would love to have him in their ranks, Liverpool included.
With the future of Mohamed Salah being questioned here and there, the rumours surrounding the Reds’ interest in the France international have been circulating for a while now, and they aren’t going away.
Geoffroy Garétier, a pundit on Late Football Club on Canal Plus, stoked the fire on Thursday evening with some information of his own.
This is what he had to say: “Jürgen Klopp is really pressing his entourage to get him to come to Liverpool. We know Mbappé has around three options: renew with Paris Saint-Germain, signing for Real Madrid who are his childhood dream and Liverpool, who are becoming a more and more consistent option.

“Fabinho, who knows Mbappé from their time at Monaco, is telling him it’s great, that he’s gone up a level with Klopp, and Mbappé is also being sold that he’ll be the face of the franchise and they’ll evolve the team around him, to the point where one of the current three would go, for example Salah”.
While this is all well and good, Garétier makes a point that Mbappé still needs to want to go to Liverpool, and this idea of being the face of the franchise ‘seduces him and his entourage’.
That doesn’t mean it’ll get done, but he also explains Real Madrid are having financial issues, meaning affording the Frenchman isn’t easy, and Paris Saint-Germain have ‘other choices’, like bringing in lots of stars, thus making him ‘one amongst others’.
This is why the Liverpool idea isn’t that crazy, and it’s one that will need looking at over the next few months.
