Liverpool are showing a keen interest in Juventus midfielder Francesco Cassata, according to claims in the Italian media. The 19-year-old is currently on loan with Ascoli, and has impressed for the Serie B side this season.
Tuttosport have today reported Liverpool are weighing up a bid for Cassata and are willing to pay his parent club Juventus in the region of €10m to sign the youngster.
The youngster’s displays with Ascoli have brought him to the attention of Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp reportedly keen to sign the player. Ascoli do have an option to extend the loan spell for the young central midfielder, but Juventus could have their heads turned if Liverpool come in with such a bid.
Cassata has cemented himself in the Ascoli starting eleven since his arrival in the summer, and has been involved in all the Woodpeckers’ league games in this campaign. The youngster has had to step up in the past several weeks due to the absence of former Leeds United midfielder Tommaso Bianchi.
Cassata has yet to play for the Juventus senior side, but was involved with the u19s last season.
Should Klopp interest be genuine then the transfer would be a complicated one for Liverpool to pull off, especially if they wanted it done in the January transfer window.
