Simon Mignolet was likely going to leave Liverpool this summer in most circumstances.
The only way a stay looked realistic from the goalkeeper’s perspective is if Jurgen Klopp had a sudden change of heart and made the Belgium his first choice over Loris Karius.
Alisson arriving from AS Roma has underlined the situation somewhat and made an exit even more desired. It’s now just a matter of finding the right destination, and the player’s representatives are working on that.
Taking a break from the process, Nico Vaesen of Star Factory has spoken to Belgian website Walfoot.
Vaesen said about Alisson’s Anfield arrival: “It doesn’t change the situation. Our goal is to find a solution for Simon to play and Alisson’s arrival doesn’t change that.
“We know that a player of €60-70m won’t find himself on the bench. We are looking at the situation and looking for a solution to his playing time. There are options, the next few days will be decisive.”
It was also explained that Mignolet isn’t specifically looking for a Premier League club, but is rather prioritising a “good team in a good competition”.
Saturday’s edition of Marca linked Mignolet with a move to Barcelona to take over from Jasper Cillessen, but he’d again be sat on the bench.
