Making it clear he wants to leave Liverpool, Xherdan Shaqiri appears close to getting his wish granted.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who explain the Switzerland international has become an increasingly appetising target for a Lazio side short of funds.
Their inability to offload Joaquin Correa anywhere has hindered their incomings, but they are hoping Shaqiri’s desire to leave Anfield will work in their favour.
It’s stated the winger ‘met with the Liverpool management and asked for a sale’ as ‘he wants to leave the Reds and got the green light’.
In fact, ‘he will be sold at almost zero cost’, with the Reds ready to ‘satisfy him’ as he was ‘just an alternative in the battery of forwards’ at Klopp’s disposal.
Despite having a contract running out in 2023, it appears Liverpool are simply happy to get his wages off the bill, and with Lazio ready to welcome him, it’s a situation that could thrill all parties involved.
