Naby Keita is ‘unhappy with his current situation’ at Liverpool, reports Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The 27-year-old moved to Anfield in 2018 from Red Bull Salzburg and whilst he’s certainly been a used member of Jurgen Klopp’s squad, he perhaps hasn’t made the impact that many were hoping for.
Last season, the midfielder made 23 Premier League appearances and so far this season he’s failed to get a minute. With a contract running until June 2023, it’s time to start making decisions about his future.
Plettenberg reports there’s been talks about a contract extension, although those clearly haven’t come to anything and have now stopped.
According to the journalist, Keita’s ‘departure is possible’, and that’s regardless of what happens with Thiago Alcantara or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
No information is relayed on interested clubs and that would obviously be the first stage of any possible exit.
