Andy Robertson has been named by Gazzetta dello Sport in their European Team of the Week.

Each Monday the Italian newspaper picks out a selection from around Europe, whilst ignoring their own Serie A for this purpose.

For Gazzetta, Robertson’s performance clearly stood out, which could be a surprise even to the 24 year old’s biggest fans.

An important player for Liverpool, and certainly a very shrewd signing, his display in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal didn’t seem especially standout.

Nevertheless, he’s one of three Premier League players included, along with Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and Felipe Anderson of West Ham United.

The draw with Arsenal sees Liverpool in third place in the league, level on points with Chelsea and just two behind leaders Manchester City. None of those three sides have a lost a match in the competition so far this season.

Robertson has four assists so far this season, split between two in the Premier League and two in the Champions League.
