Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian is looking to leave the club before the end of the transfer window, but a return to Real Betis is not an option.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say that the Spanish side aren’t interested in bringing their former youth player back to the club.
Adrian has found himself down the pecking order at Anfield this season, with a series of disappointing displays while Alisson was out injured eventually seeing him replaced by youngster Caoimhin Kelleher.
The Irishman’s impressive performances when called upon means he is now number two, and that has left Adrian on the outside looking in.
It’s a situation he’s not entirely happy about, and Estadio say that he and Liverpool have agreed to study any offers that come in for him before the end of the January transfer window.
The 34-year-old is out of contract in the summer and ‘will be released’, with it explained that it’s unlikely the two parties will want to exercise the option of extending his contract for another year.
Liverpool will not ask for anything to sanction a move away this month, and it now remains to be seen if anyone will come forward.
One club who won’t be is Real Betis. There had been a recent debate about whether they needed to sign a new goalkeeper, but Joel Robles’ recent improvement coupled with Manuel Pellegrini’s faith in him, when Claudio Bravo isn’t available, and back up Dani Rebollo means that is no longer an issue.
Thus, they will not be moving for Adrian, despite both parties having suggested a reunion in the past.
It leaves Adrian looking desperately at the end of this window for a new home, with Liverpool happy to let him go if he can find one.
