Liverpool’s match against Sevilla on Tuesday evening was certainly entertaining, but will have also proved frustrating for Jurgen Klopp and the club’s followers.
With there being little doubt around how good Liverpool’s attack is, that’s balanced by a lot of doubt over how good the defence is, and how adept the team as a whole are at defending.
Once again, the answer around Liverpool’s defending wasn’t a positive one.
Alberto Moreno had a night to forget back at his former club, and perhaps it’s becoming clear the Seville boy just shouldn’t play against Sevilla.
With two crucial mistakes, Moreno helped Sevilla back into the match, before Klopp then took the fullback off.
It’s a setback for Moreno who has been enjoying a much better season, and form which has got him in the Spain squad.
If Moreno expected the Spanish media to overlook his poor game, he was mistaken. And if he expected favours from Marca, having granted the Spanish newspaper two interesting interviews over the past couple of weeks, he’ll be disappointed.
Marca give the Liverpool player a – mark, feeling he was worthy of no stars.
It’s not only Marca who were left unimpressed with Moreno, and another Spanish newspaper, AS, also gave the Liverpool player a blank mark.
Indeed they rated all Liverpool players outside of Klopp’s attack to have had poor games in the Champions League tie.
