There should be a little derby to sign Liverpool’s Joel Matip at the end of the season, according to reports from Italy.
Newspaper Corriere Della Sera reports that both AS Roma and Lazio are interested in bringing him to the capital in the summer.
It’s said those Serie A sides were presented with this ‘market opportunity’, since Matip is set to leave Liverpool for free at the end of his contract.
The outlet points out that the Reds are set to turn their squad ‘upside down’ in the summer once Jurgen Klopp walks away from the club, and Matip will be looking for a ‘new experience’.
The defender is said to be ‘intrigued’ about the possibility of moving to Italy, and ‘open’ to a switch to Rome, and is following how Roma and Lazio are doing at the end of the season.
It’s said Matip is already aware of the salary cut he’ll have to take, and contacts with those clubs are set to take place in the coming days.
Just recently, the Turkish media also reported Fenerbahce’s interest in the Liverpool player, so he should have some interesting options in the summer.
