Desperately looking for a way out from Liverpool, Xherdan Shaqiri is about to get his wish granted.

Linked with a move to Italy, where Lazio and Maurizio Sarri were interested in helping him, it’s actually France where the Switzerland international looks like he will be continuing his career.

Lyon had been interested, and it appears the Ligue 1 side are so very close to winning the race, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Taking to Twitter to announce the news, he said Shaqiri ‘is very close to Lyon on a permanent deal’, with the offer from the French side said to be of €6m.

That’s a little bit short of what Liverpool are asking for, as Jürgen Klopp’s side are trying to squeeze out as much from this transfer as they can.

Di Marzio explains the Reds want €8m from a sale, which, you would think, wouldn’t too hard for Lyon to match if they are already willing to put forward €6m.

We’ll have to wait and see, but this is indeed getting close.
