Adrian continued at Liverpool in the summer after it became clear there wasn’t a great opportunity available in La Liga for him.
The goalkeeper has regularly flirted with a move to Real Betis, yet the Seville club are well covered in the experienced goalkeeper department, having Claudio Bravo and Joel Robles among their options.
Whilst Adrian will have been in no doubt that Alisson would continue to be first choice, the Spaniard has always been very confident in his own ability, and will have expected Jurgen Klopp to have him as second choice to the Brazilian international.
Yet, the former West Ham player hasn’t had a minute of football so far this season, and has only found himself in a Premier League squad twice. The second time was at the weekend, with Alisson unavailable due to his late return from international duty.
That saw Klopp start 22-year-old Caoimhin Kelleher instead, with Adrian on the bench.
AS say Adrian is ‘going through a period os ostracism’ and is in a ‘critical moment’. It’s believed that Kelleher has now pushed aside his rival, and that will lead the 34-year-old to consider his future with Liverpool.
That said, AS insist Adrian will approach the situation with ‘the utmost elegance’, which sounds such like a PR spin it may as well have come from the goalkeeper’s mouth.
