Earlier today we covered reports from Germany on the future of Liverpool’s Marko Grujic.

The first one explained Hertha Berlin were desperately looking around for midfielders and could make a move for Grujic, who had previously been with them on loan. Months ago it was suggested in the German media that Hertha fancied keeping the player, yet Liverpool were only looking for a permanent transfer.

Quickly after that came a report of Grujic being on the verge of a move to Werder Bremen, again on a deal for the rest of the current season.

Now Bild say that transfer has collapsed.

Werder had wanted to take the player until June 2022, whereas Liverpool were still hopeful of a permanent transfer. However, that isn’t what the move is thought to have failed on.

Bild state it came down to salary structure, so potentially how much each club would pay of Grujic’s wages during the loan period.

Whether the Liverpool player’s agents can find an alternative remains to be seen.
