Marca have a Saturday article on Jasper Cillessen likely leaving Barcelona this summer and they’ve lined up the candidates to replace him.
First up is Koen Casteels and he’s followed in line by Simon Mignolet. Right now the Belgian is seemingly third choice at Anfield after the arrival of Alisson.
He wasn’t happy being second choice to Loris Karius, and perhaps was unfortunate to be so, and he’s certainly not going to be pleased with his situation now.
One or both of Mignolet or Karius need to leave the club and Liverpool may be able to get a better transfer fee for the former.
Marca say the Belgian has ‘no options’ at the Premier League club and his representatives are trying to find a new destination before the transfer window closes.
Mignolet would also be second choice at Barcelona but may feel differently about doing the role there rather than under Jurgen Klopp, and there’s every chance he could be offered Copa del Rey games.
After Cateels and Mignolet comes Gerónimo Rulli, Marko Dmitrović and Yann Sommer.
Given Mignolet may not even be second choice any longer at Liverpool, he could be relatively easy to sign.
